Attendees will learn about the installation of permeable pavements in conjunction with rainwater harvesting. Program consists of classroom training that covers how and why permeable paving can impact storm water planning, and the components that go into this system. Participants will then proceed outside to see the various stages of a sub-surface rainwater harvesting system being installed under permeable paving.

We are excited to share with you our journey in creating the Aquascape Water Gardening Center!  This center was designed as a research and development area for everything relating to water gardening – products, training, customer feedback, sales, you name it! Join us to learn everything we did to go from a simple work-space to a fully functioning retail environment. This workshop will detail:·          “The evolution of work space” – A look at the stages of the internal transition from office space to retail environment / show room.·           “From grass to green” – A look at the stages of external transition from a grass area to a fish and aquatic plant destination.·          Marketing – find out how we did $87,000 in one weekend!·          Staffing, management, payroll, operations, etc.·          Capitalizing on partnerships with local businesses and CACs·          Lessons we’ve learned and how you can avoid making some of the mistakes we made.·          And much more!

A Night at the Shedd Aquarium

On Thursday, July 16th take a bus downtown to the Shedd Aquarium and check out our new pond display and enjoy some jazz! The Shedd becomes Chicago's premier jazz venue in the summer with their Jazzin' at the Shedd. This Chicago tradition combines some of the area's best bands, the city's breathtaking skyline and an unrivaled array of aquatic animals from around the world. Add light refreshments and drinks, and you've got an unbeatable summer evening of fun. On the 16th you can hear The BBJ Project. The BBJ Project consists of Barry White on lead and rhythm guitar, Bobby Gordon on drums, John Wynn on bass guitar and a who's who list of the area's top musicians and vocalists, including well-known trumpeter Ken Cooper, who you can hear on quite a few of BBJ's hits like "Hello Brazil" and "Killer Joe." 

The bus will depart Pheasant Run at 6pm and return around 11pm. Feel free to explore other Chicago sights while downtown, just make sure you are back at the Shedd to return on the bus!
